Marco was born in Fano, Italy, on September 19, 1980. Marco’s story is the story of many expats who come to New York City to find opportunity. Marco completed his studies in Economics and Business Administration at the University of Ancona, Italy and graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in 2003. In 2004, while studying for his Master’s Degree in Economics & Management, he had an opportunity to come to New York for an internship at the Italian watch manufacturer Watch. Brilliant, determined and down-to-earth, Marco excelled during the internship thanks to his work ethic and professionalism.
The opportunity of a lifetime arrived shortly after, when, in the Spring of 2005, Marco joined renowned Italian fashion company Valentino growing all the way up to become the Director of Financial Planning. Marco spent almost 10 years in New York, loving both the challenges and the opportunities that a city like this gives. Marco passed away on November 15th 2013, following a battle with kidney cancer which he courageously and privately fought.
To honor Marco’s generous spirit and positive attitude, Marco’s wife and family have created an initiative that collects donations to be distributed yearly to charities in Italy and in US. This is how Remembering Marco was born, as a tribute to Marco and as a way to contribute to and raise awareness about cancer.
